Promotion Action Group(PAG) Minutes Inaugural Meeting 24 /5/2012 Present-DWi, GMf, PHi, CBo, JGe 2min Brainstorm PHi- Digital Face needs to be more professional. ‘The Website is a dead bird.’ Eg -Video clip from the Principal. -Virtual walk Action :Peter is to bring ideas of what other schools have on their website to our next meeting. DWi- Would like to create a new staff position.(1 M unit) Year 9 Dean to set the tone for year 9 and Promotion/linking with Contributing schools. Wants to see us celebrate and promote our School Achievements more outside the school. Have an elite Sportsman day for 4 boys from each school. Thinks Scholarships should be for about $650 per student Action- Put together a proposal for an Elite Sportsman day at the College. GMf- Proud of the ‘Saint’ Need to push sport, he believes that we under sell ourselves. Question Why don’t we have a Board out the Front? Wants to see us celebrate our achievement outside the school! He emphasised that being Humble means learning to accept praise. He feels that Year 9 care about success not NCEA grades. Emphasised that some Catholics are not sending their Boys here because they worry about Discipline. Action- GMf to give article from Saint to Neal for Newspaper CBo- Wants to see SJC live up to being the School of Choice for Catholic Boys (5 year plan) He suggest we make up a CD which includes a School Haka, Music and other Performance that we could hand out on Open day. He emphasised that we must use our ‘Channels’ (Feeder Schools, Parishes, Emails, Sports Clubs, Old Boys etc) Eg Helping out a St Marys Open evening for their year 7 and 8’s Emphasised that some Catholics are not sending their boys to St John’s because they worry about the Discipline in the school. He would like to see a ST Johns Trust be established to assist with Scholarships. What size do we want our roll. He suggest 500 would make for stronger sports teams. What are great for promotions. Lets get a waiting list going Wife said ‘Mummies make the decisions.’ How do we win the mums? Connor emphasised he decided to ask people in our community what they thought. Speaking to a mother of several past students Mum Said “St John’s takes the Bad kids and gang Kids” Census was reached that we do this and should do this if we are truly Marist.
